Three mushers are out of Scroggie Creek. Lance Mackey has set the pace
in this year’s race. As Lance continues to move toward the finish line,
mushers Ken Anderson and Brent Sass are doing their best to give chase.
Lance said ” I enjoy a good race, it’s good for the race it’s good for
the fans. It’s more interesting when you don’t know who’s going to win
right up to the end.” Before leaving Dawson City, Lance checked into
trail conditions ahead of him. “It’s much better ahead,” he smiled,
with a look of relief. After struggling through what is now behind
them, smooth trails will be welcomed. The rough trails gave these
athletes quite a workout. Next checkpoint - Pelly Crossing, mushers are expected to start arriving around 5 pm today (sunday) The first mushers are expected to cross the
finish line sometime Tuesday.
