Quest Leaders Arrive at Pelly Crossing PDF Print E-mail
Written by Theresa Daily

hughneff_07The front running teams reached the Pelly Crossing Checkpoint early this morning. Lance Mackey and Hugh Neff pulled in about 20 minutes apart around 6 am. Dave Dalton arrived just over an hour later. Several teams were last reported resting at the McCabe Creek Dog Drop, and there are still teams in Carmacks.

Neff collected his drop bags quickly and was back on the trail shortly after 7 am, while Mackey and Dalton appear to be staying for a while at the checkpoint.

With temperatures dropping to -35 C and brilliant Northern Lights overhead, the mushers were treated to a traditional winter night all along the trail. Trail conditions are reported to be well-packed, with serveral mushers commenting on the quicker than expected runs between checkpoints.
