Carmacks Awaits Race Leaders |

Update 02/11/07: A group of quick paced front runners are closing in on the Carmacks Checkpoint. Hugh Neff left Eagle at 3:30 am. A tightly packed field followed led by Kleedehn at 4:26 am, Gerry Willomitzer, Dave Dalton, Hans Gatt and Aaron Burmeister.
None of the mushers seemed to want to allow any of their competitors to get too far ahead as the majority of the field left within 2 hours of each other.
Race fans had predicted a fast 2007 race and the mushers are not disappointing them. Some insiders guess that Neff will take extra rest on this leg to keep his run time/rest time ratio in balance after a long run into Braeburn. This second leg of the 2007 race is expected to sort out the teams more difinitively.
In Carmacks, the dog trucks are pulling into the checkpoint, volunteers are finalizing the last details, and the media is preparing to get the scoop within the next few hours. Photos coming soon!
