Updated Monday 2-12-07 22:10 - Jeremie Matrishon is the first to leave the Pelly Crossing checkpoint at 19:10. A few short hours later, two teams followed only minutes aparts; Roland Waldispuehl at 21:43 and Thomas Tetz at 21:50. As these neck-in-neck teams departed the checkpoint, Luc Tweddell arrived after his 34 mile run from McCabe Creek Dog Drop. Pelly Crossing, a village of 300 on the banks of the Yukon River. Mushers, race officials and fans have been treated to tantalizing homemade food and baking at the “Questaurant” – a fund raiser spearheaded by Eliza Van Bibber School teacher Amanda Ellis. “Pelly Crossing doesn’t have a restaurant so my Grade 5, 6 and 7 class came up with the concept of our “Questaurant” to feed everybody,” said Ellis. “We’re raising money for a three-day field trip to Whitehorse in June where we’ll connect with our “buddy” class - Grant Hartwick’s Grade 7 students at Selkirk Elementary School”.
