10 days, 4 hours, 3 minutes, shattering the previous Quest record by Frank Turner in 1995 of 10 days, 16 hours, 20 minutes. Lance was the first to cross the 2007 Yukon Quest finish line today at 13:58. For the third time in a row, he knows his training and hard work has paid off.

Quest Updates

Temperatures reached a brisk twenty below today in downtown Fairbanks with the sun warming spectators who lined up along the trail to see the champ come in. Lance pushed his sled into town, his team looking fresh and strong and a grin only Lance can give, rolled across his frosted face. The crowd roared, proud friends and family cheered him on. "I've got a once in a life time team right now" Lance says with pride "It's totally unbelievable what these dogs can do, I feel honored to be part of this team".

Lance has only a few days to be on cloud nine and then he will have to shift gears, first helping & supporting his son Cane, who will be running the Junior Iditarod this weekend and then head to Anchorage for his own Iditarod challenge.

  Congrats to Lance Mackey! smilies/cool.gif

Can't imagine how he must have felt! You have to respect a musher who owes his win to the Team! Great short report Theresa and a great smile captured from Jan DeNapoli!

Cheers!

Thanks Scott, for your kind words on the photo. Lance knows as well as the rest of us, that the dogs are the real hero's in this lifestyle. They are truly amazing. It's quite emotional every time I finish a race, or a long run.. that these dogs did this and they did it for me, their goofy musher. It's an incredible experience. Lance is part of a phenomenal mushing family. I have the utmost respect for all of them. Dick, Rick, Jason, Lance, Brenda etc.... they're all amazing..
