Product Review: Not just your ordinary snow hook. This light weight hook is made of a very hard steel called "T-1" It has a minimum yield strength of 100,000 psi and an approximate Brinell hardness of 250-320. Made to withstand what dog teams can dish out.
Designed by Howard C. Misner. The "Bear Klaw" has been in use now for several years and Howard says he has not seen or heard of any hooks getting bent or broken. The one and only complaint is loosing them and wanting a replacement. The design has been "field tested" & fine tuned by mushers working closely with Howard to develop the "Bear Klaw" into what it is today. One of the great features of the hook is you can lift the "Bear Klaw" even if the dogs are pulling on the tug line. Just lift by the round bar on the back end of the hook, not by the step. The design is such that the arc of the two hooks allow you to roll the hook up and out. The flat bar on top is to use when stepping the hook into the ice or frozen snow. By placing your foot on both the flat and the round bar, the hook can be set very deep and with out much effort. Two time Yukon Quest Champion, Lance Mackey and Iditarod musher Lynda Plentner are using the "Bear Klaw" for their racing teams.
Once you've tried the Klaw you won't go back. Comments (1)

| HELL'o! I have just heard this beautyfull song! I thik it's great. Today it is Valentine's Day and I have just realised that dogs are also my love! I'm sorry, but there is no snow in Poland this winter. I can only watch dogs sleding on internet. Take care all you mushers! Andrzej |
