We are long on shelf space but short on wall space at our house. So to alleviate some of the lack of hanging space for equipment, I came up with a quick and easy pull out hanger designed to go under a shelf. Our space is 3' 4" deep so I purchased a 10' section of 1 1/4' Schedule 40 PVC water line. This is nice and heavy for the job. Cut this to the desired length and used the table saw to cut a slot down the middle stopping 7" from the end of the pipe. I next drilled 4 screw holes opposite the slot to fasten the pipe to the underneath side of the shelf. We counter sank the screw heads.

Next I purchased an 1 1/4" 4' dowel rod for the pull out part. This slides into the PVC pipe easily. I used 1 1/4" rubber coated cup hooks to insert into the dowel rod and evenly space intervals with the first one against the back of the slot on the PVC pipe. (NOTE here skip the rubber on the cup hooks just buy plain ones.) Drill pilot holes for the cup hooks. Don't cut the dowel rods off to the length of the PVC pipe, leave the ends stick out for handles. We hang harnesses, ganglines, extra collars, that kind of equipment on ours. I purchased some large carabiners at Harbor Freight so I could bunch the collars and harnesses up to hang more on the hooks.
