With temperatures dipping to fifty below in Manley Hot Springs, the Serum Run trail boss has temporarily halted the journey.
"I think for the safety of everyone we will stay put today and hope the weather warms up to -30°F", says Kent Kantowski. "We have had to have extra dog food flown in from Fairbanks and a few dogs flown out, nothing serious just not doing so well in these temperatures. Even the snow machines act up in these extreme temperatures. We are warm and comfortable at the Manley School. The folks here are great."
They hope to resume their trip tomorrow. Stay tuned for updates.
