Signups are continuing for the Two
Rivers 200, which begins March 7 in Chatanika and ends in Two
Rivers. Several mushers signed up in advance of the Feb. 18 deadline for
obtaining the early-bird rate.Entries will continue to be accepted until
the bib draw at the pre-race banquet, which is set to begin at 7 p.m. Thursday,
March 6, at Two Rivers Lodge, mile 16.5 Chena Hot Springs Road. A drivers
meeting and veterinary records check will be a part of the event.The
entry fee until the bib draw is $275 for Two Rivers Dog Mushers Association
members and $300 for non-members (Non-member fee includes new TRDMA
membership). The field is limited to 30 teams. The purse is a guaranteed minimum of $1,500. The race will begin at noon Friday, March 7, at Chatanika Lodge, mile 28.6 of the Steese Highway. A mandatory gear check begins at 10 a.m. The race will end at Pleasant Valley Store, mile 23 Chena Hot Springs Road. Teams will be required to accumulate a total of 10 hours of layover time during the race at some or all of three checkpoints: Pleasant Valley store outbound (80 miles from the start), Angel Creek Lodge (124 miles from the start), and Pleasant Valley store inbound (159 miles from the start and 52 miles from the finish line).
