Dodo Perri, 2005 Iditarod veteran from Italy, died Friday, July 14 in a diving accident in the Isle of Ponza harbor in the Tirrenean Sea near Rome.

Dodo was living on the Isle of Ponza with his girlfriend Maria Rita who owns a store there. He was a part time fisherman and on Friday afternoon was busy trying to recover a lure used for catching cattle fish when he was stuck in the head by the boat propeller. The boat driver got him out of the water almost immediately and administered first aid, but he was too badly injured to survive.

Dodo leaves 2 sons Giacomo 22 and Davide 20 and his remains were buried Wednesday the 19th of July, in the little town of Courmayeur located in the Italian Alps at the bottom of Mount Blanc where he operated as a Sleddog Sport Instructor and guide for many years .
