Musher Martina Delp died suddenly (electrocuted) at her home in Salcha. She operated Long Haul Kennels and had more than 30 dogs. Troopers, the After Hours Emergency Clinic, and Loving Companions Animal Rescue are working to rehome the animals immediately so that they don't have to go to FNSB Animal Control where they will likely be euthanized as they'll over-fill the facility --- many of the dogs were rescued from there previously.

Some of her dogs are already listed on petfinder.com (look for Long Haul Kennel by searching under the zip code 99714) but many are not.  Some of her animals are spayed or neutered, but some of them are not. ALL of them will be spayed or neutered prior to final placement free of charge. (Courtesy of SNIP and Dr. Rose.) Some of the ones listed have already been altered, even though the listings haven't been updated. Martina had no family nearby. The dogs must go into foster care until  legal decisions are made. If you could help by fostering one or more animals, please contact Donna Buck-Davis at Loving Companions Animal Rescue at 488-0516 as soon as possible. If they don't find immediate foster homes these dogs will likely be delivered to the shelter by the Troopers. Loving Companions Animal Rescue will also provide free kibble to help subsidize these dogs.

UPDATE ON DOGS: Thanks to so many of you, we now have sufficient foster homes for Martina Delp's dogs. At this time we are only looking for permanent homes, and even then, there are only a few dogs remaining to choose from! Special thanks to Dr. Rose, Dr. Love, and Dr. Lane who are donating many hours this week to spay and neuter ALL the intact animals prior to placement. If you would like to adopt a dog, you may contact Donna Buck-Davis with Loving Companions Animal Rescue. Be forewarned she has now gone through her own cell phone battery, and her husband's cell phone battery as well! If she doesn't return your call promptly, please understand. Her phone number is 907-488-0516. You could also call me (Lynn) at 907-488-9685.
