Veteran of the Iditarod, musher Ted English had surgery for hernias on Monday and returned home to Talkeetna, Alaska on Tuesday morning. Tuesday night he was taken back to Valley Hospital due to a heart attack. The attack was originally classified as "mild" at the time, but he was placed in ICU.

Paula English reports that Ted's heart attack was upgraded to a "medium to large" heart attack. It kept "growing" because they could not give him blood thinners because of the surgery. They had to worry about him bleeding out. Ted was moved to Alaska Regional in Anchorage this morning after being stabilized at Valley Hospital. He is still in ICU and will be there until they determine how much damage was done to the heart and to consider  the next treatment/procedure.

Our best wishes and thoughts go out to Ted and his family. Get well soon!
