Who are they? The Bootie Brigade is a wondeful group of volunteers from all over the world that make dog booties. Their mission is to sew dog booties for Iditarod mushers in need. They make thousands of booties each year. The group purchases material needed to make the booties from donations and gets to work sewing. Why? To help offset the cost mushers incure running the Iditarod race. "It's not cheap", says Iditarod musher Eric Rogers. "Booties cost at least $1.00 each, depending on the snow conditions booties can get used up fast ". Each year the Bootie Brigade gets a list of  mushers from Iditarod Race Headquarters that would like to be on the waiting list for Bootie Brigade booties. The booties are a god send for mushers on a budget and the Brigade volunteers never ask for anything in return. Their reward is seeing sled dogs happily bootied up with their handy work.
