billdevineWell known Alaskan artist William (Bill) Devine has passed away toady, January 16, 2007. Bill was a commercial artist who donated a lot of his talent to numerous dog related organizations. He designed the well known Iditarod sled dog race logo, Dollars for Dogs annual fundraising artwork and the Iditarod National Historic Trails.

Bill Devine was also a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.  In many ways, Bill was a hero, but was not one to brag about his accomplishments during these wars.   Dollars for Dogs, Iditarod and the State of Alaska has suffered a great loss. Bill will be missed by the many people he worked with and knew him over the years.

Funeral services are pending, with burial at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.  The Anchorage Police Departments K9 Unit will serve as pallbearers. Officiating at the service will be retired Police Chaplain, Bert McQueen.

More details will be posted as we get them.
