June 23, 2007 - Glacier Pilot's versus Alaskan Athletes and the Governor What should have been a night of well known Alaskan athletes and celebrities enjoying a night of Glacier Pilots baseball at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage, Alaska, turned into a game of celebrity softball. It was Alaskan Athlete Appreciation Night and the Glacier Pilots were supposed to be playing baseball...but the opposing team had a conflict and was unable to show. What to do?
The game organizers scrambled to solve the problem by asking the celebrity athletes if
they would consider playing a fun game with the Glacier Pilots. Lance Mackey and all the other celebrities threw out the first ball and the
game was on. Governor Sarah Palin played third base coach while cheering on her celebrity teammates. She
even took a turn at bat in the last inning. Like a neighborhood evening ball game with friends playing friends, nobody seems to remember the final score. What we do know is - that everyone had a great time. Comments (0)
