50 teams have signed up for the fourth annual 2007
Sheep Mountain 150 sled dog race to be held December 15-16, 2007. The race
starts and finishes at Sheep Mountain Lodge, Located at mile 113 of the Glenn
Highway. There are two, 5-hour layovers at the Eureka Lodge checkpoint.
Mushers compete with 12-dog teams over a 150 mile course through the Talkeetna
and Sheep Mountains.
In addition to the Alaskan dogmushers, competitors
include 12 teams from Canada, 1 team from Oregon, 1 team from New Hampshire,
and 1 team from Germany. 2006 Sheep Mountain 150 champion Lance Mackey is back
to defend his title. Lance also won the Iditarod and Yukon Quest last year.
Last years second place (Jessica Hendricks), third place (Gerry Willomitzer) and
fourth place (Sebastian Schnuelle) teams are all back to compete as
well.
The race starts at noon on Saturday, December 15 at
Sheep Mountain Lodge.
