2007 Kuskokwim 300 Mushers Set to RaceA star-studded field of racers will assemble January 20th, for the 27th run of the Kuskokwim 300 in Bethel. Included in the field of 22 mushers are 10 of last year’s top 15 Iditarod finishers, and numerous champions from the Iditarod, Yukon Quest, and Kuskokwim 300. The are 2 father/son teams, Martin Buser and his son Rohn and Mike Williams Sr and Mike Williams Jr are entered in this years race. There is a $100,000 purse to make it worth their while.
Race information & official site Race chairman Myron Angstman rates the field highly. “We believe this is the strongest batch of long distance teams ever assembled for any race other than the Iditarod,” Angstman said. One musher, Cliff Wang, of Lincoln Montana has withdrawn from the field. The Bogus Creek 150, a 150 mile sled dog race from Bethel, Alaska to Bogus Creek, Alaska and back with a $25,000 purse & the Akiak Dash, a 65 mile sled dog race from Bethel, Alaska to Akiak, Alaska and back, will also be running this weekend.
