Volunteers in Kotzebue are working with us to get you the information. UPDATE 11:30 April 6, 2007: Martin Buser leads the pack 90 miles into the Kobuk 440, arriving at the Kiana checkpoint at 10:29 this morning with Lance Mackey and Paul Gebhart arriving just 5 minutes behind him at 10:34. Also into Kiana, in order of arrival is Melanie Gould, Ken Anderson, Hugh Neff, Ed Iten, Karlin Itchoak , Ramey Smyth, Noah Burmeister, Robert Nelson, Tollef Monson, Rick Swenson and Kelly Williams. Today in Kotezbue the weather is mostly cloudy. Highs 20 to 25. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph. A little warm for most mushers liking but the evening runs are a bit cooler with lows 5 to 15. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph. This popular race covers 440 miles from Kotzebue to Kobuk and back. The Kobok 440 is limited to 12 dogs, with a $60,000 purse.
