Dogsled.com will be on the trail this year providing updates from Anchorage to Nome. Our team is coming together with the support of additional contributors all along the Iditarod trail. The following is a quick schedule of events and locations that we are planning to cover.
Don't forget that the Fur Rondy and Iditarod Days Festival is still going on this week and through the weekend - there are still some great events going on before the start of the Iditarod.
March 2 : Anchorage - Inlet Towers Hotel
Join us along with the Alaska Getaway Giveaway winner at the Inlet Towers Hotel . Mushers Mitch Seavey and Jeff King are going to be on location for a "meet and greet" along with a few sled dogs, sleds and of course the mushers! Special thanks to the Inlet Tower hotel, Mixx Grill, Alaska Airlines and The Alaska TravelGram Newsletter for bring Sheryl and her daughter to Alaska for the first time. Stay tuned for updates.
March 3: Ceremonial Start of the Iditarod
Our team will be spread out around Anchorage covering the race from as
many angles as possible. While we aren't able to provide live coverage,
we will do our best to get the news out as quickly as possible. Look
for video, audio and images from the start right here on Dogsled.com
March 4: Restart in Willow
At least two of our primary team will be at or around the restart in Willow. We should have at least a few updates from the restart including photos and video.
On the trail
Several contributors have offered to share their updates along the trail and we will do our very best to get them out as fast as they arrive. We have pilots, photographers, locals, writers and our friend Scott Slone providing updates along the way. It's very likely that updates will come from McGrath to Unalakleet with the most frequency. Anything we see or hear - we'll make it available ASAP.
End of the trail: Nome
At least two of our core team will be positioned in Nome for a constant update of finishers this year. We plan to be there until the very end - covering the first in to the last in. We are expecting to have video, audio, written reports and photographs from Nome for at least 10 days in a row!
Our contributors
Partners and friends who will be reporting for Dogsled.com this year include all the Team Dogsled crew as well as a few more photographers and potentially some schools, pilots and locals who send in their contributions. As we receive new contributors, their names will be credited with each story, photograph or content they send.
