Teams passing near Paxson MtnThe second annual Gin Gin 120 sled dog race will start out on a very windy & warm note, with temperature highs predicted to be 25 to 35 degrees and southeast winds 25 to 40 mph. Nine mushers will line up for the mass start at 10:00 am Saturday morning at the Meier’s Lake Roadhouse, Meier’s Lake.

Most of the mushers signed up for this race will be using a sled for the first time this training season due to poor snow conditions just about everywhere in the state of Alaska. Races all over the state are being postponed or cancelled due to the lack of snow. Fortunately the Denali Highway, where most of the Gin Gin race is routed, has a well groomed trail with only a few spots of overflow.
