Mackey steamed to the finish line crossing
shortly before noon Monday at 11:24.Mackey now has the second fastest
finish in CB300 history, finishing in 49 hours and 18 minutes. Hans
Gatt holds the fastest time finishing in 48h 58m in 2002. Lance's
average speed on the trail was 10.1 miles per hour. The Copper Basin
300 is one of the premier mid-distance sled dog races in Alaska. It
starts the second Saturday of every January in Glennallen, Alaska. 32
Mushers signed up with a purse of $22,000.
