We spoke with the Cascade Quest race director Jay Justus yesterday (Friday, January 12, 2006) and he informed us that the race is definitely on. Due to the erratic weather this winter, many of the local area teams have not been able to train their teams consistently. Recent storms have added insult to injury and made it difficult for the race coordinators to prepare the trails for the race.
The combination of weather and few well-exercised teams will likely lead to a smaller field of competitors for this years races. Jay says he will be sending us a list of the current teams signed up for the 2007 event. As soon as we have the list, we will publish it here.
Myself and maybe one or two other assistants are planning to cover the Cascade Quest in person. If all goes as planned we will have the video camera, cameras and audio gear on site - doing our best to capture all the sights and sounds of Washington's Cascade Quest.
More information as it comes in...
For 2007, there will also be a 12 mile (4 dog) Sportsman class event.
Event dates:
January 26-28, 2007
