Fifteen mushers have arrived into Susitna Crossing, roughly halfway to Maclaren Lodge. Three have left this checkpoint. First out of Susitna Crossing is Hugh Neff (time in 18:17), second is Lance Mackey (time in 18:24) and third is Melanie Gould (time in 18:45) No times reported on their times out. It is speculated they have stopped to rest further down the trail. The 12 other mushers that are reported into Susitna Crossing have remained at the check point to rest. Teams are reported grouped together and looking good. The Maclaren Lodge will have a reverse restart after mushers complete their mandatory 6 hour layover. Fairbanks musher, Rod Boyce, Bib #21, decided to withdraw shortly before the start of the race.
Another update is expected sometime after midnight from Maclaren Lodge when the front runners are expected to start arriving. Comments (2)

| Thanks for the update, but can you please tell us who the mushers in are if you know? Thank you so much |
| The last I read vie email @ 11:30PM AKST (Jan 12)was that Hugh, Lance, Melanie and all are camping outside of the Susitna Crossing. I cannot confirm this to be absolute fact - but this is what I read from an email coming from Maclaren. |
