Wally Robinson, born in Michigan in 1980, began mushing in the Upper Peninsula in 1993 and says running the Iditarod has been a goal of his since then. He says he loved the competition and “worked hard to place in the money.” He talked of nothing but Alaska and the Iditarod so it came as no surprise to anyone who knew him when he loaded his truck in September of 1999 and drove to Alaska. His family had no choice but to plan long vacations and Wally’s girlfriend gave up and moved to Alaska to be his handler.

He will be running the 2001 Iditarod out of Ramy Brooks’ kennel. Wally is a dedicated musher who has worked hard, along with Ramy, to run this years’ race. He will be running Kami Kennel’s yearling team in the Iditarod. He hopes to finish respectable in this, his first Iditarod. He will then work to build a competitive kennel of his own. Wally will continue to build towards this goal.

Wally is single. Wally lists his hobbies as hunting, fishing, trapping and driving dogs.
