Kasilof, Alaska
Paul
Gebhardt was born in 1956 in Minnesota and raised on a dairy farm. He
moved to Alaska in 1989. He was introduced to competitive mushing by his
friend and mentor, Martin Buser, in 1992. Since then, Paul and his family
have built their Morning View Kennel near Kasilof on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula
with an emphasis on healthy, happy dogs. Raising his dogs from birth,
Paul shares a strong rapport with his team. Consistently bringing young
dogs in his team to the finish line in Nome is a testament to this.
In 1998, Paul won the Leonhard Seppala Humanitarian
award presented by Alaska Airlines. Paul is one of a limited number of
mushers who builds his own dog sleds.
Paul is the father of three, Paul Jr., 23, Nikka,
22, Kristin, 15, and the proud grandpa of three. He enjoys hunting, trapping,
musing and exploring Alaska's great out-or-doors.
