Willow, Alaska

David StraubDavid Straub was born in Missouri in 1960. He came to Alaska in June of 1996 to "carry on a dream of living in Alaska and running the Iditarod." A carpenter the last two and a half years, David is also the owner of a sled dog tour business.

This year David will be carrying "Iditarod Flags" to Nome, especially designed by the Mosier School 3rd grade class of student teacher Ms. Jamie Youngman. While studying about the Iditarod this 3rd grade class each designed their very own "Iditarod Flag" Click here to see their fabulous art work.

His interest is "training dogs." He began mushing in the '80's. He says that he read articles about Swenson's, Mackey's and Redington's Iditarod and followed the race for years with hope of someday running it. He has had some experience with sprint races. David is single.
