Born in 1970 in Alberta, Canada, Clinton has owned a restaurant, worked construction jobs and was a fishing guide in LaRonge & Christopher Lake, Saskatchewan. He currently is a fishing guide and a dog handler. Clinton started mushing in 1995. He began as a handler for various mushers. Running the Iditarod has been a dream for many years.

He lists his hobbies as working with sled dogs, hunting and fishing. Clinton is single.
